The Lexus NX is available in two basic guises, NX 300 and NX 300h. The NX 300 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L, 4-cylinder engine that makes 235 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is an option across the entire NX lineup. The NX 300h is powered by a 2.5L, 4-cylinder engine that is assisted by an electric motor. Lexus has developed a "kick-down" feature for its hybrid system, which allows for more immediate power delivery on the highway.
The NX is a Lexus in every sense of the word and comes accordingly with a nice list of standard equipment. This includes a smart key with easy access entry, a push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, one-touch power windows, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an 8-inch LCD display with an optional 10.3-inch touchscreen display in the center dash, an 8-speaker premium sound system and Lexus' Enform Safety Connect system along with a host of advanced Lexus safety features.
Several option packages are available to help steer the NX toward either additional comfort or a sportier driving experience. The F SPORT package includes stiffer suspension, a racier interior with various "F" badges, a more aggressive front grille, perforated leather on the steering wheel and shift knob, a black headliner, a boost gauge, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Luxury package takes the NX in the opposite direction by adding a heated steering wheel, perforated leather seating surfaces, wood interior trim, heated and ventilated front seats, rain sensing wipers and a power rear door.
A Premium package features heated and ventilated front seats, a power operated moonroof, a blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert and 18-inch wheels.
The Navigation package features a voice-activated navigation system, but also adds a touchpad to help control the system, as well as a host of other technology features. These include Lexus' Enform app suite, a 10-speaker premium sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio and an additional USB port.

The 2020 Lexus NX heads into the new year with the addition of a few welcome additions. Inside the infotainment system now supports Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and the steering column can be adjusted electronically. A Mark Levinson sound system is available for upscaled models while all trims receive low-light pedestrian detection, bicyclist detection and lane centering assist as a part of the NX's robust suite of advanced safety features.
The Lexus NX enters into the growing compact SUV market but offers a bit more luxury and a lot more style than any of its competitors. The Lexus NX also stands out with its available hybrid powertrain, making this the sixth hybrid Lexus in their lineup. With a short wheelbase ideal for city driving, the Lexus NX is easy to park and maneuver. However, with decent ground clearance, it has no trouble negotiating bumpy country lanes or dealing with light off-road duty during picnic trips. For drivers who want a little extra dose of excitement, the NX is available in F SPORT guise. With unique styling features and sportier demeanor, the F SPORT looks meaner and even more serious than the standard NX.
