The Nissan Sentra is available in three trims: S, SV and the top-of-the-line SR. Nissan keeps things pretty simple with powertrain options for the Sentra, power comes from a solo engine choice: a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine making 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Nissan mates that engine to an efficient Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)specifically designed to mimic the gears of a traditional automatic transmission. The eight generation Sentra utilizes newly independent rear suspension and dual-pinion-rack electronic power steering.
The base model Sentra S is more basic than other versions, but is still equipped with plenty of nice features. Air conditioning, cruise control, power door locks and power windows are all generally expected and present. However, more upscale items that come standard on the S include a 4.2-inch vehicle information display, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a USB port, remote keyless entry, and push-button start.
The mid-grade SV adds to the S with 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, two USB ports plus one USB-C port, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, adaptive cruise control, automatic air conditioning, upgraded cloth seats, and a 7.0-inch digital vehicle info display.
The top SR trim comes with everything from the SV plus 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights and dark chrome trim. An optional Premium package offers heated front seats, heated steering wheel, a surround-view parking camera system, simulated leather upholstery, a power sunroof and an eight-speaker Bose audio system.
Numerous safety systems come standard on the Sentra, including anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control. Nissan Intelligent Mobility with Safety Shield 360 is also standard offering a suite of active safety technology including a blind-spot monitor, lane departure warning, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency front and rear braking. Sentra also comes equipped with Nissan's Advanced Air Bag System including 10 total airbags for every Sentra.

In 2020 Nissan takes a big step for its brand-new eighth generation Sentra this year. Riding on a brand new wider and two-inch lower platform it shows off sharp new styling language with its optional blacked-out roof, large V-motion honeycomb grille and angular LED headlight design. Inside a revamped and upscaled interior brings more sophisticated and comfortable experience not to mention a long list of standard tech. Rear independent suspension and electric assisted steering gives the Sentra an athletic and nimble chassis while its new 2.0L platform delivers 20 percent more power without compromising fuel economy.
The Nissan Sentra has traditionally served as a more cost-effective option to the competitive compact sedan market dominated by Japan and Korea. More recently it offers a much more robust and solid driving experience with sophisticated interior design and a unique styling all its own. Pair that with a long list of standard high-tech active safety assists thanks to Nissan's Safety Shield 360 at a very reasonable price, and the picture really comes together. The Sentra competes against Japanese all-stars like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda3.
